About Applied Color ©
As founder and creative director of Applied Color ©, I worked with a wide range of global clients on color design projects, collaborating on brief creation, building out advanced concepts and bringing them to life, brand language identity, creative vision storytelling, and color and material palettes.
For each client, throughout each phase of the projects, I set out clear creative design process guidelines that established a framework for teams to follow.
Storytelling
Storytelling is a the centre of everything that Applied Color © does. It is the context, the question and the answer, the tension and the relief. It is what connects us from an idea to a finished item.
Approach
We approached all projects with the same mindset. The best design work comes when you are truly curious and given a framework to explore and play in.
When leading design teams, I encourage designers to take their own paths, to explore, play, be inspired and to inspire others, I instill creative ownership in their expertise while managing the team to ensure they arrive at the same destination with a compelling and cohesive design aesthetic.
I encourage teams to think with a 10ft 1ft 1in approach, considering the impact of design at every stage of consumer engagement. What is the first read 10ft away, and how does it capture their attention? How does it hold that engagement as they get closer and is the story resolved at the 1in distance?
For the client and cross functional teams, clarity is the most important thing we can deliver up front. Brief creation was a close, collaborative process that established trust between all parties. We would build out key milestones in the timeline with clearly defined boundaries of ownership and deliverables
